Wellbeing

Are you seen and heard? Self-employment can be lonely

We need to make sure all our clients feel seen and heard! This is one of my favourite mantras I spout it all the time at the Wellbeing Clinic. For all of us who work in the world of wellbeing whether you are a holistic therapist or a yoga teacher a large part of your work is making sure your clients feel seen and heard.

How do you do this?  You listen! A deep healing occurs when a person feels listened to I am talking about in the moment – fully present – intentional listening.

How I went from being a holistic therapist to a clinic owner

Why I stopped practicing as a holistic therapist

It has been pointed out to me that I talk a lot about how I became a reflexologist but not the transition from being a therapist to a wellbeing clinic owner.

After the birth of my first child in 2000 I worked as a reflexologist for around 5 years specialising in fertility and women’s health. I was seeing on average 20 clients a week, I also trained in other therapies because I was fascinated with everything and anything to do with holistic health largely due to the improvements it had made with my own health coupled with a desire to pass this information on to other people.

Is a scarcity and comparison mindset killing your wellbeing business?

So many of my clients believe that there is not enough business to go around. I often hear the words there are just too many yoga teachers or holistic therapists I can not compete with them all.

When I first started as a reflexologist in 2001 I also believed this to be true. I complained to my business coach about their not being enough clients to go around, he sat me down and asked me if I knew how many reflexologists there are within a 5-mile radius of my reflexology practice. My response was NO! But I know there are too many and it is just not fair.

Your wellbeing business dreams are U shaped

How an £80,000 business contract saved my wellbeing business.

Not many people know that 15 years ago, I nearly lost my wellbeing business. I just didn’t have enough clients coming through the door. It was a difficult time; I doubted, I questioned, I feared I wasn’t good enough, but then everything began to change! Even in the midst of all the fear I knew that my business idea was a good one, I just didn’t know how to make it a reality. I was spending too much money on the wrong things, I was scared of my staff I held the misguided belief that they should know what I was thinking without me voicing it, I didn’t give them enough direction and if I am honest I was scared they would not like me if I told them what to do.
