6 tips for starting a wellbeing business
Starting your own wellbeing business is hugely exciting and liberating, your creativity can flow like never before. You can tap into your heart’s desires you can create a business inline with your own values and passions.
How do you turn your dream wellbeing business into a reality? This quote from Annabel Karmel sums it up perfectly.
“The difference between dreaming of starting a business and actually doing it is the right combination of passion, planning, commitment and good advice.” Annabel Karmel
Here are my six tips.
1. Do what you love and believe in your idea.
If you are going to create your own business, choose the idea that sets your heart on fire, that sets you alight. We all have different passions, something that we love doing. What is that one thing that you do that you have an overwhelming desire to share with the world?
2. Ask yourself the question, “Am I going to enjoy running a business?”
This may seem a little odd, but running a business is not for everyone. Just because you have a passion that you want to share with the world does not mean that running a business is the way to do it.
I love running businesses, I thrive on the ups and downs, the unknowns, the meeting of new people, the new challenges it brings, serving my customers. I also enjoy the challenges that having staff can bring.
Plan and research; to many business people this bit feels a bit of a tie, after all, you have your exciting idea, your passion and you can’t wait to get started. But trust me, the more that you do in the planning the more chance of success you have. DO A BUSINESS PLAN, even if you are not trying to raise funding? If like me you are a blue sky thinker you may find this a challenge, this has been one of the times in the past I have used a business coach to hold me accountable. He helped me to ground my ideas and my thoughts into a reality, he held me accountable for doing the work. And boy was he right; the act of writing down and researching helped my business to grow.
4. Support network.
Surround yourself with people who will support your dream unconditionally, people who get it (the desire to set your own path) – friends, partner, business coach; business can be a lonely place. I could not have been successful in my business without all three of these groups.
5. Be persistent.
If you follow tip number 1 to 4 then tip number 5 will come your way. Running a business, no matter how well you have done all the planning and got support from the right people there are going to be challenges along the way. In my experience challenges usually arise just before a growth.
