3 traits I use to help me define my personal view of success in my wellbeing business life.

Success what is it and why does it matter?

If, like me, you read many popular magazine articles about success, you often find that you finish reading feeling that success is something to be attained. Something that is just a little bit out of your grasp. These magazines offer up solutions to feelings of inadequacy; ‘if only I could be better at behaving in a certain way in my personal and business life, if I just changed this about myself, I would attain success and be eternally happy’. Erm, hang on a minute, I like my life already- I am happy! Now I’m confused.

Leaving us all feeling inadequate about ourselves make us successful? Popular culture is very good at making us feel inadequate, from the way we dress to the way we look and behave. It is all too easy to fall into the trap of confusing success with perfection.

One thing I am very sure about success and perfection are NOT the same thing.

So again what is success?

After much thought and research I am of the opinion that success is a personal journey that changes and develops throughout our lives.

So here is my personal definition of success. For me it is the courage to listen to my heart and live a life that my heart desires, to not be stuck by fear but to live a life of ease and flow.

3 traits I use to help me define my personal view of success in my wellbeing business life.

Courage: To be in business you have to have a degree of courage. Over the years there have been many times when I have had to connect with my heart and trust my decisions when others may not have seen it the same way as me.

Ambition: If we let go of the fear it is important to recognise we are good at what we do, and the services or products we are offering to the world if we can bring our very best to our customers and the world then we deserve the good stuff coming our way.

Commitment: To be successful in business there is a level of commitment required, if you believe in and love what you do. You can commit to your business in a way that fills you up energies you. If your business leaves you constantly exhausted and wishing you were else where it is time to examine your personal idea of success.

As I have said throughout this blog, success is a very personal thing and we may all come up with different answers. However, as Oprah says.

“What I know is that if you do work that you love, and the work fulfils you, the rest will come.” Oprah Winfrey.

By asking ourselves the question ‘what does success mean to me?’ helps us move forward without fear, without the traps of perfectionism or the need to compare ourselves with those around us.

I hope reading this blog has inspired and helped you with your business in some way.
